Discovering Canada Series

If you are studying Canadian history, the Discovering Canada book series is a definite must-have as a resource to include. These books offer detailed information about various moments and experiences in our history.

Written for students in the grades 5 to 7 range, there are 11 books in the series, covering:

refugees

  • Native Peoples
  • The Vikings
  • New France
  • Fur Traders
  • The Defenders
  • The Loyal Refugees
  • The Railways
  • The Rebels
  • The Mounties
  • The Great War
  • Black Heritage

Each book not only has quality information, stories, artwork, and photography, but also has games and hands-on activities. For example, in the Vikings book, there’s a printable board game where you go exploring from Scandinavia to Canada and back. The First Nations book has model homes to build. Black Heritage helps you build a drum. Bringing history to life through fun activities makes it so much more enjoyable than just reading the text.

Recommended in most Canadian history curricula, most libraries have these books on their shelves – making them an easy addition to your lessons.
