Brian Mulroney won the position of leadership with the largest majority government ever. Hopes were high for a new direction for Canada.

His time as Prime Minister featured highlights (for better or worse) of a Free Trade agreement with the US, participation in the Gulf War, and the introduction to the GST tax.
