Mr. Collinson’s Science Lessons

Ontario teacher, Mr. Collinson, has put together a website of all his science lesson plans for grades 1-4 that he’s taught over the years.

Each grade has 4 different terms, as laid out by the Ontario curriculum guide: Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Structures and Mechanisms, and Energy. Within each subject you will find the unit broken down into 20 – 25 lessons, complete with the lesson outline, and printables and answers to these.  He also has unit quizzes and tests (along with answers).

Some of them are nicely typed out with clear links to the printables he’s created or found. Some are just scans of his lesson planner (which are very scratchy).

I was excited to find this website, because I think it has a lot of potential for homeschoolers who need to do science cost-effectively! In fact, I’m using it for a lot of our science lessons this year!

  1. I found this website last year. I am home-schooling both my kids and was not sure where to start with science. This site is extremely helpful and adaptable for us. Check out his entire home page site:

Mr. Collinson’s home page with links to grade 7 subjects, and the science resources to link to the grade 1-4 science work (He does state on the website that he has not taught grades 5/6 and has only taught grade 8 twice, but no lesson plans available.)

  2. I was just recently given this website for teaching grade 1 science and it looks fantastic. I am really hoping to put it into use in my own class. A sincere thank you goes out to Mr. Collinson for a great and wonderful website. I am curious to know if there are any similar websites for the grade 1 social studies curriculum and/or grade 1 math.

    Thanks.
