The Children’s Book of Movies {DK Canada}

childrens book of moviesMovies are like magic – transporting us to all kinds of amazing worlds and adventures. It all seems so real.

DK Canada offers all sorts of great books about movies, including classic James Bond, Frozen, Star Wars, Avengers and other superheroes, the LEGO Movie, and more on sale.

One of these books is a great learning tool about film: The Children’s Book of the Movies.

This book walks its readers through the history of film in typical DK big pictures-fun facts style, with feature pages about popular directors, actors, and films. It’s easy to read the little tidbits and examine the pictures.

Kids get a chance to peel back the magic of the movie and see what goes on behind the scenes, learning about things such as choreography, stunts, the crew involved, makeup, effects, and how animation has changed over time. They can explore different genres – from horror to Bollywood to documentaries to action to drama. There’s even a stop on the red carpet of the Oscars.

But the best part is that the last segment of the book shows kids the steps to take so they can create their own movie – from an idea all the way to watching the final product, offering tips on location, costumes, lighting, safety, and editing. It makes the idea of bringing a movie idea to life a real possibility – even if you are a kid!
