Pierre Trudeau swept Canada with an epidemic known as “TrudeauMania” as he rushed into the position of Prime Minister in 1968. A charismatic man with a smile that charmed many, he helped establish the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and helped to create an officially bilingual country, among other things.
More memorable for his antics and personality than for the things accomplished during his time in leadership, Prime Minister Trudeau held the position for 15 years (with a short upset in the middle).
