“We are dedicated to encouraging, promoting and supporting the reading, writing, illustrating and publishing of Canadian books for young readers. Our programs, publications, and resources help teachers, librarians, booksellers and parents select the very best for young readers.”

They are the home of several Canadian book awards, programs such as Children’s Reading Week, and a large resources library.

For parents/teachers, their website offers some fantastic resources:

  • how to choose books for children and teens by genre
  • how to choose books for children and teens by age
  • links to activities, colouring sheets, and guides for a variety of books
  • links to novel study materials/teacher’s guides for various books
  • educational materials
  • book lists for various themes (cultural, historical, environment, events, etc)
  • large collection of links to blogs, publishers, publications, and organizations
  • Best Books for Kids & Teens publication ($5.95/edition, but the archives are free!)
