Lately Lily: The Adventures of a Travelling Girl

Lily is a little girl who travels around with her parents and her best friend “Zeborah” (who is a little zebra). The story is about discovery and connecting with others – no matter where you are. The artwork in this book is phenomenal – the colours so vivid they almost jump right off the page! (I’m including this preview just to show you what I mean.)

This book is good for 3 to 5 year olds. To order: Lately Lily: The Adventures of a Travelling Girl

I Didn’t Do My Homework Because …

Teachers seem to be on to the classic “my dog ate my homework” excuse. It’s time for some new ones. This book has a great selection of creative options to choose from: carnivorous plants, tornadoes, giant lizards, the circus…. and much more.  Will the teacher believe him?

It’s a very funny book. My oldest (who is almost 10) loved this book and laughed a lot while reading it several times.

Just make sure to take note of the caution on the back cover – “Each excuse may only be used once.”

Great for kids ages 6+

Busy Bunny Days

busy bunny daysThis book is a great observation kind of book. It follows the day-to-day life and adventures of the Bunny family – in their town, on a trip to a farm, and at the port. Each page is a different time in the day (complete with a little clock to help master analog time telling!) and you are tasked to find a few different things going on.

For example, at noon in town, they ask what kind of doctor Dr. Bunny is – and you have to find him at work to see what he’s doing. There’s also a pesky badger getting into trouble all day long who finally gets caught in the act at night.

Great for ages 4+

Here Comes Destructosaurus!

destructosaurusThis brand new book is so cute! I chuckled out loud several times while reading it.

The story features the wild and rampant attack on the city by Destructosaurus – who seems to be on some sort of tantrum – all the while being reminded of his behaviours and how it is affecting others. (Think “voice of mom” as the narrator of this story.)

“Wipe your FEET, Destructosaurus! For crying out loud. You’re tracking seaweed and dead fish all over the tourist. We just cleaned this street. Now look at the mess you’ve made! Honestly!”

This book is perfect for the toddler/preschooler crowd. To order: Here Comes Destructosaurus!

Watch for Monday’s post. I’m using another book from this collection for my Poppins Book Nook this month.
