Canadian Flyer Adventures

Canada Flyer AdventuresRecommended as the “Canadian version of the Magic Tree House book series”, the Canadian Flyer Adventures series follows the story of two young neighbours, Matt and Emily. Together they discover a red sled which takes them on great historical adventures across Canada – including Vikings, Pirates, Dinosaurs, the Gold Rush, the Titanic and more!

In addition to the books, you can find teacher’s guides (scroll down to find the book series) for at least the first 8 books in the series. Lessons are broken up into the ranges of grade levels – providing easier activities for the Grade 2-3 group and more detailed and research activities for kids in Grades 4-5, along with reproducibles.

    Hi Lisa Marie,
Thank you for this post about the Canadian Flyer Adventures series. I enjoyed reading the books and thought you would want to know that think you are showing for the teachers guides is obsolete. The correct URL is now http://www.owlkidsbooks.com/Portals/0/docs/teachersGuides/CFA-TRG-Grades2-3.pdf

I don’t think so. 🙁 If I find a Canadian history fiction series in French, I’ll be sure to tell you!

In response to Dawn’s question regarding Canadian History books written in French, I have been adding French language books to my website, and researching this. I have not added all the books available because the market for French language Canadian History is small, and also the availability of books varies constantly. If anyone is interested, you can contact me directly through my website donnaward.net and I can let you know what is available currently.

Do you know of a website that has the Canadian Flyer in historical order (timeline)? Thanks

Hmm, that’s a great question. Let me go see what I can find out!

I’m wondering about the same thing. Did you find anything out about the historical order of these books?

I couldn’t find a website, but here’s an approximate timeline list:

          Danger, Dinosaurs – prehistoric
          Yikes, Vikings – 1001
          Beware, Pirates – 1577
Lost in the Snow – 1650s
          A Whale Tale – 1778
          Stop that Stagecoach – 1833
          Hurry Freedom – 1858
          All Aboard – 1885
          On the Case – 1888
          Crazy for Gold -1896
          Flying High – 1909
          Pioneer Kids – 1910
          SOS Titanic – 1912
          Make it Fair – 1914
          Halifax Explodes – 1917
          Far From Home – 1940s
          Arctic Storm – 1976

          Hope that helps!
