June 2013: It looks like this has been changed to tip sheets for various age groups of ideas on how to get fit and have fun.
When you don’t have mandated recess periods or phys.ed programs, it can be hard to remember to put in at least 60 minutes of physical activity into your day. Especially since homeschooling means you can all wear your jammies all day long anyway, if you want to!
Here’s some great resources from the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Divided into 2 age groups, 6-9 and 10-14 – you can download or order copies of the Physical Activity Guide for Active Living, along with a Teacher’s Guide and/or Parent’s Guide – which is full of ideas of what you can do to get the whole family more active.
There’s also an Interactive magazine for each age group – which gives kids more information about their bodies, the importance of being active and listing many ideas of various activities.
