The Rick Hansen Foundation School Program (RHFSP) offers compelling resources for youth in kindergarten to Grade 12. Explore our range of free online lessons and activities that can easily be incorporated into your home-schooling curriculum. All lessons are available in English and French.
These thought-provoking exercises and activities will empower young people by raising awareness, challenging perceptions, and opening minds about disability, inclusion, and accessibility. Be inspired by Rick Hansen, the “Man In Motion”, and join a growing movement of youth making a difference.
RHFSP offers:

- Speaking engagements from our Ambassadors, connecting youth with people with varying disabilities
- Lesson plans for students in Grade K-12, linked to provincial curriculum

Featured Activities
Grade 5-12: Retrace Rick Hansen’s historic Man In Motion World Tour – This interactive and educational lesson gives students the opportunity to join Rick on his epic 26-month, 34 country, 40,000 km journey around the world to prove the potential of people with disabilities and raise funds for spinal cord injury research. (Geography, Math)
Grade K-4: The Boy who Loved to Move – Watch an animated story of Rick Hansen’s inspirational journey and answer questions to show your comprehension. (Language Arts)
Grade 9-12: International Disability Rights – Compare the laws set out by the United Nations Convention on Persons with Disabilities to current realities around the world. (Social studies, Law, International Relations)

RHF Ambassadors are speakers with varying disabilities who will engage your students in meaningful dialogue about disability, inclusion, and accessibility. Now, Ambassadors reach out to students through online platforms of your choice such as Zoom, Google classroom or MS Teams.
