Learning Bird is a web-based education tool that provides students with lessons presented by teachers on subjects covered in the curriculum through videos, slideshows, printables, and more.
Designed for kids in grades 6 to 12, the thing that appeals to me is that it’s not just one person doing the teaching, but includes lessons from a variety of different teachers on a selection of varying subjects, such as:
- Computers and technology
- and more.
You can search for lessons by individual subject, keywords, or by grade (where you can see exactly how each lesson fits into the curriculum outline.) There’s also different textbooks that you can find lessons directly related to – many of which are explicitly Canadian.
As the teacher/parent, you have a dashboard that allows you to see what your child has been watching, how they’ve rated various lessons, and show you what other videos are relevant to their grade level.
The cost is $19.95/month or you can get an annual membership which discounts that monthly fee to only $12.50/month.
To see if Learning Bird is a resource that could be of use to you in your learning at home, you can even give it a one week trial to test it out.
