Who’s got spirit? Homeschoolers have spirit! That’s right! **cue pom-poms and cheering**
In 2011, two homeschool moms kicked off a now annual event called International Homeschool Spirit Week.
Every year on the 4th week of September, homeschoolers around the world are invited to participate in a week of fun with theme days designed to encourage, celebrate, and unify homeschoolers all over the world.
For 2015, the themes are as follows:
- Monday: Crazy Hair Day
A classic theme day. Make that hair exciting!
- Tuesday: International Day
Pick your favourite country and celebrate it!
- Wednesday: Wacky Tacky Wednesday
Dress up in the wackiest, tackiest clothes you can find!
- Thursday: Retro Day
Blast from the Past – Represent whatever era you like.
- Friday: Giving Day
Giving Day is a day where students “give back” in some way. Volunteering, making treats for neighbours, visiting seniors, donating to the food bank, etc.
Just join in the day, take pictures and then either post on their Facebook page, or on Instagram with the hashtag #HSSWeek2015. Encourage your local homeschooling community to join in too!
