If you are looking for a compilation of Canadian literature – here’s one of the best I’ve ever seen. The 49th Shelf has a huge list of Canadian books and authors – just about guaranteeing that you will never run out of things to read.
You can search for books by category (like children’s fiction and non-fiction, biography, history, travel), recommended reading lists, or by author. You can read summaries and reviews.
There’s even a really neat feature where you can click on the Canadian map and find books that are connected to different places. For example, if you pick Iqaluit in Nunavut, you will get a book about an Arctic Murder mystery. If you pick Victoria, you will get a book about a young woman who was abandoned on the steps of the Y in the city.
The section for kids is HUGE – covering just about any topic that you are looking to study or read about. The children’s fiction offers a lot of options for living books to read. Plus there’s some French literature too. Something for everyone!
If you become a member on their site, you can join into their various giveaways and contests too – to help build your home library!
