CBC Archives

I’ve said it before, and I’ll likely say it again, but the CBC really does have some of the best Canadian resources available. Today I’m sharing with you the CBC ARCHIVES – which is a collection of media resources from our history.

There is also a great section called “On This Day“, which has a daily moment of history. Very interesting way to start the day off, by a discussion about that moment.

You can also take a virtual tour of the archives – learning more about what it includes.

But, as homeschoolers, the section of note is the teachers’ section which consists of lesson plans designed around using the archives as teaching tools. You can find great lesson plans and extentions to cover and introduction to a topic, get them working on a long-term project or specific topic assignment, or even send the kids on WebQuests to learn about different things. Most of these lesson plans are designed for students in the grade 6-12 range.

As an added bonus, CBC also provides assessment materials – so you can evaluate the learning of the students in your care. The information on these assessments and how to make your own is excellent!
